Nah, just been a little slow around here the last couple days.

We had almost the whole gang in here last week, so the vital signs are good LOL!

As you may know....or should know....I am currently training to become one of our fair city's finest!

My time, while not totally hectic, is somewhat limited. Therefore I hope that this board does not become dead until I have more time to post. Hell, I may have to have another cookout or gathering just to "splain" to y'all what the hell I've been up to these last 12 weeks. I can tell you that my patience is being tried in many many ways!

I'm sure Ickey knows what I'm talking about.

Oh well.....next week is shotgun training. Given the marksmanship abilities of some in my distinguished class, I am thankful that we must wear out bulletproof vests!

    Ta ta y'all!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">As you may know, or should know, I am in training to become a regulatory person. I get to say NO! when people want to step over the bounds. Kind of like a policeman, don't you think?

But the difference is, I am apparently a regulatory person who understands what the hell is being submitted. Today I mentioned to a regulatory person that they should really emphasize the results of their SDS-PAGE/membrane blot/IgE antibody probe because I thought it really pointed out the reduced anti-allergenicity of the new product, and they looked at me blankly. Sigh. Then, I told someone that we should be scanning the Federal Registry Daily Update emails with a smart text mining program, and again I got blank looks. I anticipate growing INTO this position within two months, and pushing the limits for however long I am here.

My time is hectic, and my new location is on a major path, the stretch between the water and the bathrooms. I need to exercise discretion, which is the better part of valor, and which I think is located somewhere in Winnipeg at the moment.

Have patience with a transitioning me.

I am currently constructing a shadow box, consisting of: the newspaper announcement of the layoffs, my "oh-so-personalized" letter telling me I was eligible for a severance package, the announcement of my transition to a new position, and the notice that came today -- the congratulations on your new job and now we need to get a signed declination on your severance package. (I am tempted to NOT give them their signed declination, just to make it difficult for them, but I know the HR person for whom it would be more work, and I know I will not willfully make more work for her, just to try to make a point to those higher up who would never know that she had to put in extra time to make up for my willfullness.)

And apologies and all that, I hope to be more active in the future, but my now is in flux.

I appreciate you all, and I know our association will survive any momentary nadirs.

No sweat, everyone gets busier at certain times and hey a day or two away from the board can be good sometimes,

You'll just be sitting there one day and you'll say...

"Hey I wonder what's going on over on the board"

Next thing you know you'll be having an in depth conversation about just about anything

I don't know if it's so much the "who's smarter" thing, because we have things we know about. But I mean, I miss the days when Dulc and D2 would offer dissertations to us on things like, oh, you know, like how seep velocity is a function of porosity times gradient. I mean, say what you want, but there's something hot about chicks that can talk smart. And I don't mean the lawyer-BS-smart like me, I mean, those cats have real, actual intelligence. And yes, GL is extremely intelligent as well, it's just not as hot when he expounds on Napoleon.
